Liverpool have six players in attack this season and each of them has different circumstances to consider in regard to their future.

Mohamed Salah might leave on a free transfer in the summer and Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez are all at risk of being moved on as well according to Anfield Watch's exclusive sources, while Cody Gakpo is feeling content on Merseyside and Federico Chiesa is only just starting to make an impact in the team.

As such, the club's recruitment team will need to be thinking on their feet over the next few months about what Arne Slot's forward line could look like next season. Players' futures will need to be assessed, and opportunities in the transfer market will need to be looked at in great depth so the team isn't left high and dry.

One target who has been incredibly impressive this season is currently linked with a move with Chelsea, but Liverpool's connections to his club could sway a deal in favour of the Reds if Richard Hughes can play his cards right.

Liverpool should battle Chelsea for Semeonyo's signature

Antoine Semenyo has been a revelation at Bournemouth under Andoni Iraola this season, as the Cherries attempt to clinch a seventh-place Premier League finish to enter the UEFA Conference League next season.

His drive and dynamism up front have proved to be troublesome for the big teams this year, with the Vitality Stadium playing host to statement wins against Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, to name a few.

The 25-year-old Ghanaian has seven goals and three assists to his name across 23 league appearances and despite failing to get on the scoresheet when Liverpool visited last week, he nonetheless delivered an impressive performance in front of Hughes who was present in the stands at his former club.

When Luis Diaz first arrived on Merseyside there years ago, it seemed as though Liverpool had been able to successfully replace Sadio Mane before he had even left the club, but the Colombian's pace and energy have failed to result in a consistent goal return and now that he might be moving on from Liverpool, a move for Semenyo could be the ideal next step.

Problematically, however, Chelsea are already in talks for him, looking at a potential €50m deal (£41.6m) according to Spanish news outlet Fichajes.

It would be very unlike the Blues to bring in another forward that they don't need, wouldn't it? After all, it's not like Enzo Maresca already have an array of talent sitting on the bench fighting for minutes in the first team.

However, if Todd Boehly wants a player, then he has proved beyond all doubt that he will ensure Chelsea have him in their ranks - as shown by the club spending over £1bn over the last three seasons.

But let's focus back on Liverpool. Both of the club's options at striker - Nunez and Jota - are set to potentially be on the chopping block and in Semenyo, the club would have a player who is regularly delivering performances in the Premier League, which neither of the Reds' current personnel have been able to do this season.

And at £41m, not only would be a deal that could be financially viable for Liverpool, but Hughes' relationship with Bournemouth - having previously been their technical director - might make proceedings slightly easier if the club wanted to swipe the player away from a Chelsea move.

Until any of Liverpool's forwards depart, the club is incredibly unlikely to put too much effort into looking at replacements, but now that it is understood that changes might be happening in the summer, players like Semenyo are worth keeping an eye on for the remainder of the season.
