Mohamed Salah RESPONDS to African Player of the Year snub with SHOCKING claim
Mohamed Salah's representatives have made a response to his omission from the African Player of the Year award with a shocking claim.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) released its annual nominees for the African Player of the Year award.
Despite a strong start to the season with Liverpool, Mohamed Salah was surprisingly not on the 10-man shortlist, which included former Everton attacker Ademola Lookman, who scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final earlier this year.
Lookman's inclusion is probably warranted. However, there were some eyebrow raising inclusions on the list, including Chancel Mbemba, who earned the nomination after leading his country to the semi-finals at AFCON.
Another questionable nominee over Salah is Amine Gouiri, who scored just 11 goals as a forward at club level last season and found the back of the net four times in 10 international caps for Algeria.

Salah responds to CAF omission
The Liverpool attacker has only won the prestigious award twice back in 2017 and 2018 and was beaten to the accolade both in 2019 and 2022 by his former teammate, Sadio Mane.
Last year Salah came third in the voting with Victor Osimhen taking the prize. And prior to his omission the Egyptian had been nominated for the award for the last seven years.
His omission from the list of nominees will undoubtedly come as a major shock and Salah's camp have made a firm and vehement response while revealing a shocking detail about his relationship with CAF.

Egyptian outlet Masrawy relayed Salah's stance on the matter with a source close to the Liverpool attacker detailing how no one from CAF had contacted them for a long time.
According to their report and the source speaking on behalf of Salah, the last time CAF had been in touch with Salah was two or three years ago to organise the 32-year-old attending an award ceremony.
That revelation is quite shocking considering Salah has been one of the best players in world football during that period.
Since then, relations have clearly soured, and this has seemingly culminated in Salah being snubbed by the organisation despite making 39 goal contributions during the 2023/24 season.
Knowing Salah, he will be extremely disappointed to have been overlooked.
He is undoubtedly one of the best African players of all time and to have not won the award for six years is quite surprising, to say the least.
