Mo Salah has provided an update on his contract situation following another incredible performance against West Ham.

He has now officially surpassed his efforts in the Premier League last season - 28 goal contributions - now sitting on 30 for the season, as the team remains one game away from the official halfway mark of the campaign.

He's now registered 36 goal contributions for the season - 20 goals and 16 assists - in just 25 games across all competitions, with 15 of those goal contributions coming in his last seven outings. This is now also the eighth consecutive season where he has scored 20 goals, all of them coming for Liverpool.

Salah is on form for his best season in a Liverpool shirt, but his contract situation is still yet to be resolved, with the January transfer window only days away from opening and with it, the potential for Salah to sign an agreement with another club.

The Egyptian spoke to the media in the aftermath of the West Ham game and provided an update on where his contract negotiations are.

When asked by Sky Sports whether he is hoping to be able to give Liverpool fans some good news on the contract front, Salah replied by saying: “No, we are far away from that.”

He did add that he was reluctant to comment: “I don’t want to put something in the media and people [to] start saying stuff, but nothing has really moved on, I am focused with the team and hopefully win the Premier League.”

As far as updates from Salah go, this one was relatively straight forward.

Having just cemented his status as the best player in the world with another brilliant performance, Salah could have taken the opportunity to put more pressure on the Liverpool hierarchy to reach an agreement on a bumper new deal.

It’s an approach we saw him take after the Southampton game earlier this season, but the fact Salah has now been less forthcoming with details than before could suggest that talks between his agent and Richard Hughes are going well.

We live in hope.
