Mo Salah piles pressure on Liverpool with NUCLEAR contract message

Liverpool solidified their grip on top spot in the Premier League on Sunday, moving EIGHT points clear of a faltering Manchester City.

The 3-2 away win at St Mary’s against Southampton ensured that Arne Slot’s side became the runaway favourites for a first league title since 2020.

The feeling around the club has been euphoric with the Reds top of the league as well as the Champions League with mammoth clashes against Real Madrid and City on the horizon.

Liverpool fear no-one on current form, with the team playing optimally and looking every inch like title-winners in waiting.

Nothing, it seems could spoil the mood.

Salah contract BOMBSHELL

But matchwinner Mohamed Salah delivered a NUCLEAR truth in the aftermath of the game on the south coast, telling the media that he was yet to receive a formal contract offer from Liverpool.

Moreover, he revealed he is currently ‘more out than in’ when it comes to his future.

The 32-year-old scored twice against the Saints, moving to 223 goals overall. No player has done more to pick up the goalscoring burden since his arrival at the club.

But Salah is out of contract at the end of the season and fans will be ALARMED by his revelation that no new deal has been forthcoming.

“We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in,” Salah said.

Asked directly if he wanted to stay, Salah said: “You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.

“I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”

I’m probably more out than in.

Salah's media messages

And on whether he was disappointed that the club had failed to offer him terms, Salah was forthright:

“Of course, yeah. I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see.”

It was a calculated move by Salah, who rarely stops to speak to the press in the 'mixed zone' after games. Indeed, the last time he did so was to deliver a message to Jurgen Klopp, with whom he was involved in a touchline row at West Ham United towards the end of last season.

He promised FIRE that day if he said everything he wanted to say. And Salah has again ignited the conversation around Liverpool as fans realise they could be entering the final SIX months of the Egyptian King’s tenure at Anfield.

Earlier this season he fulfilled his post-match media duties following the game against Manchester United at Old Trafford and gave a similar signal, declaring that he was likely in his last season on Merseyside.

It's clear Salah is using the media to get his message out there and it's one that will have the club's higher-ups HOT under the collar this morning.

Biggest decision of Richard Hughes' career

Salah has piled the pressure on Liverpool’s decision-makers with his latest comments, reiterating that he would be open to offers from the club. In his comments, Salah disclosed that the hold-up was on the club’s side and not his.

We can infer from what he said that remaining at Liverpool is Salah’s priority but he is currently disappointed that no deal has been reached.

Richard Hughes, the sporting director, and FSG’s CEO of Football Michael Edwards are already facing, perhaps, the biggest decision they will ever have to make in charge of Liverpool.

Salah going off-message and disclosing that no discussions were underway means they will be the ones left to explain.

Where to next? Liverpool will soon need to reveal their plans for Mo Salah because right now it looks like a binary choice on the part of the club.

Keep Salah or let him go?
