Mohamed Salah dropped another bombshell that all Liverpool fans feared after the Reds dismantled Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Salah stated again that he had entered his final year of his Anfield stay, words that no Liverpool fan wanted to hear after the Reds took their arch-rivals apart on their own patch.

"As you know it’s my last year in the club, I don’t want to think about it, I just want to enjoy it," Salah said.

When Salah promised FIRE

When Salah fell out with Jurgen Klopp at West Ham last season, he promised 'fire' if he spoke about what really transpired. For a player usually so reticent when it comes to dealing with the media, it was a stunning admission.

Now, just three games into the new season and the Egyptian has indeed delivered the fire he promised with two separate declarations that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Before acknowledging to Sky Sports on Sunday night that this is his last season at Anfield, Salah first stated in the lead-up to Liverpool's trip to Old Trafford that he just wants to ‘enjoy the last year’ of his Liverpool deal and that he is not yet thinking past the conclusion of this season.

Concerns have began to rise amongst the Liverpool faithful that the Egyptian's Anfield exit nears, but according to Masrawy, there is no need to fear a depature yet.

Salah wants new deal

The attacker wants to remain at Anfield for another two years, says the Egyptian publication, and wants Liverpool to break their policy of only offering one-year deals to players over 30.

Salah's words in the media, meanwhile, are believed to be a part of a well thought out strategy to apply pressure on the club to cajole them into offering their talisman a new deal.

That's according to a new report in Football Insider.

The Egypt international will not want to accept a pay cut or less valuable contract as he enters his mid-30s, giving the club a dilemma of whether at Salah's age, it is worth it.

But Liverpool's hammering of United on Sunday was the latest episode of Salah's greatness that conveyed no signs of the winger slowing down.

Salah netted Liverpool's third after assiting Luis Diaz' opening two goals. The Egyptian has become only the second player in Premier League history to score 10+ goals at a single away ground.

Salah wants to break records

Salah has been a mainstay when it comes to big names across Europe being rumoured with a move to the riches of Saudi Arabia.

The 32 year-old attracted strong interest from Al-Ittihad who saw a £150m offer rejected by Liverpool for the Egyptian in 2023.

Salah thrives off smashing records and his wish to stay on Merseyside highlights his ambitions to continue making history at the Anfield club and cement himself in the category of greats alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard and Sir Kenny Dalglish.

There is no doubting Salah's fitness and the work he puts in to keeping himself in the best possible physical state, resulting in there being no delusion in his thoughts that he can play at the highest-level for years to come due to this, with his preference to remain at Liverpool and continue to break records, according to Sky Sports' Melissa Reddy.
