Liverpool midfielder will miss Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid will welcome Liverpool to the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium tonight.
The Champions League group stage clash will kick-off at 08:00pm. However, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool will be without midfielder Curtis Jones for the aforementioned match.
The 20-year-old is recovering from a minor injury. Jones missed Liverpool's Premier League clash against Watford at Vicarage Road last weekend.
However, Klopp is hopeful that the Scouser will be available for the club's Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
As quoted by the club's official website, Klopp said: "Today he [Jones] did only warming up and then did his stuff, but still individual training and we decided to leave him here [home] to continue that. And then hopefully he is ready for United."
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Jones has had a very good start to the 2021-22 campaign. The midfielder has scored one goal and registered three assists in six appearances for Liverpool.
Jones is also averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.21 in the early stages of the new season.
Therefore, it is a shame that the 20-year-old has picked an injury. But, going by Klopp's comments, Jones will be back in action soon.
