Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is expected to feature against Cardiff City at Anfield on Sunday, according to The Times' Paul Joyce, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

The 18-year-old broke his ankle against Leeds United at Elland Road back in September. Elliott has not played a competitive game of football since.

The Englishman has missed Liverpool's last 30 matches. But, according to Joyce, Elliott will play in the club's fourth round FA Cup tie against Cardiff City.

Anfeld Watch Verdict

We can't wait to see Elliott back in action. The midfielder can seriously play football.

Elliott was loaned out to Blackburn Rovers for the 2020-21 campaign. The 18-year-old certainly showed what he could do during his time representing the Blue and Whites.

Elliott scored seven goals and registered 11 assists in 42 appearances for Blackburn Rovers.

Former Red Stephen Warnock was full of praise for the midfielder after he returned from his loan spell.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, the 40-year-old told LFC TV the following back in September 2021: “He has come back a man, he looks like he has filled out, he looks hungry, and I think we always knew that anyway about him. What I like about him in terms of his passing, he is always looking forward, and he is always thinking how I can hurt the opposition.

“He travels with the ball, he looks comfortable with the ball at his feet, and I always say about him, he has arrogance, but it is a good arrogance. There is a real trust in himself that he is capable of breaking into this Liverpool team and holding his own.”

The Englishman started in Liverpool's opening four matches of the current Premier League season.

Elliott averaged a WhoScored player rating of 6.59 across the aforementioned fixtures, which highlights that he did perform reasonably well.

Therefore, it was a shame to see the youngster go down with an injury when he did. But, Elliott is now fully fit and we can't wait to see him play on the weekend.
