Liverpool transfer news: Reds midfielder being targeted by Premier League sides

Liverpool may have to be wary of interest in star midfielder Curtis Jones from other Premier League sides this summer, even if an Anfield exit looks incredibly unlikely.

Jones, who joined boyhood club Liverpool at U9 level, was always expected to have a big future on Merseyside and, despite some inconsistent periods, the 23-year-old is currently making good on his lofty potential.

The Scouser showed plenty of glimpses of his quality last season but has taken his game to an even higher level this campaign, firmly establishing himself as a guaranteed starter under Jurgen Klopp despite four midfield summer signings arriving at the club.

Jones has accumulated 25 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring five goals and registering three assists - most recently producing a trademark far-post strike in the FA Cup fourth round in a 5-2 win over Norwich City.

However, Jones' impressive displays have naturally drawn attention from other clubs, with the Daily Mail's Sambi Mokbel claiming that the midfielder is attracting interest from several Premier League sides, especially down south.

Speaking on the It's All Kicking Off podcast, Mokbel said: "Be interesting to see what happens with Curtis Jones in the summer. Again, another really good player but his performances are catching the attention of a number of clubs I’m told.

"Listen, he’s at Liverpool, and he’s at his hometown club. I don’t know his contractual situation but he is attracting interest from clubs, from English clubs, some in the south.

"He is a player who will probably [be] central to Liverpool’s future when Klopp goes but if there’s any sense he is available or obtainable, there’ll be some clubs who will try and take advantage,"

There had been recent reports suggesting that Arsenal were seriously interested in signing Jones despite the unlikelihood of a potential transfer.

However, while some Premier League sides may understandably be interested in capturing Jones' signature, it's inconceivable that the Reds would let a player of his quality, age profile and significance leave the club - especially to an English rival.

No matter who the next manager is after Klopp leaves Anfield at the end of the campaign, Jones will be in their plans.

Sorry London clubs, but he's not going anywhere.
