On Saturday, Liverpool take on Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup at Anfield. This is a team that Slot's team should be quite comfortably.
Accrington are currently 19th in League Two and have won just six games in the league while conceding 40 goals in 23 matches.
Given the mismatch between the two sides, it's fair to say Slot will be making a few changes and this could see him unleash an unbelievable midfielder.
Why Arne Slot will unleash an unbelievable midfielder in James McConnell
James McConnell is a player who isn't being talked about a lot around the club. Even though he was one of the most promising young talents to have emerged in Jurgen Klopp's final season at the club.
A tenacious midfielder with a voracious appetite to win the ball back, McConnell has an excellent first touch and an uncanny eye for picking out the right pass and making progressive moves deep from midfield.
Due to various reasons, McConnell's appearances under Slot have been limited. He's been injured which have definitely derailed his progress and his ability to catch the attention of the new Liverpool head coach.
But the 20-year-old did make an appearance against Southampton in the League Cup last month and caught the eye in that outing.
Now, Slot can unleash him again against Accrington and if he does he will uncover an unbelievable talent.
Let's not forget this is the player who came on as a mere teenager in the League Cup final at Wembley and played the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo off the park.
These were players who cost Chelsea more than £100m each. McConnell went onto the pitch and didn't look out of place at all. In fact, he looked better than them.
Everyone is aware of Liverpool's lack of holding midfield options at the moment. There is no denying McConnell is an option for that role.
A strong performance against Accrington could finally catch Slot's attention and help the youngster move up the pecking order in the Liverpool squad.
