‘Wonderful’ Liverpool player Michael Edwards let go could now sign for Tottenham
A former Liverpool player Michael Edwards let go in his previous reign could now move to Tottenham in a shock transfer.
Sometimes even those who seem infallible are prone to errors. Michael Edwards may be regarded in high esteem at Liverpool, and for good reason - his track record speaks for itself.
However, even his record isn't spotless at Anfield. There will be decisions that the former Liverpool sporting director and now FSG head of football operations, will regret.
Most notable of those could be Liverpool parting ways with Dominic Solanke after just one and a half seasons at the club. Admittedly, Edwards made a huge profit on Solanke, who arrived on a free transfer and was sold for £19m to Bournemouth - but he could have benefitted even more by opting to keep him at the club.
Solanke heading to Tottenham?
Since leaving Liverpool, Solanke has gradually established himself as one of the best n0.9s in the Premier League. He finished last season as the third highest top-scorer in the Premier League with 20 goals - outscoring all of Liverpool's forward options.
Naturally, after such an impressive campaign, the now 26 year old is being linked with a move away from Bournemouth. Earlier this summer he was on Chelsea's radar with talks of a purported £65m move - which is Solanke's release clause.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, it's Tottenham who are interested in the forward and are exploring a potential move.

Liverpool would stand to gain profit from a prospective deal. The club are owed 20 percent of any profits Bournemouth receive for the forward.
Working off a £46m profit on the back of a £65m fee, Liverpool would be owed around £9m should Tottenham move ahead with their interest and pursue a deal.
What has Jurgen Klopp said about Solanke?
Solanke never really got a fair look in at Liverpool. That was why Edwards was open to selling him back in the January window of 2019.
However, that doesn't mean that the former Liverpool boss did not rate the English forward highly.
Klopp has praised Dominic Solanke in the past, describing him as an 'absolutely wonderful' player in his pre-match press conference against Bournemouth last season.
“I’m so happy for Dom,” Klopp said. “When we signed him we were all so excited about the talent he is. He has so much potential, had so much potential when he came here. But this is Liverpool and we had other good strikers as well. He played games and everything, probably at that time not the most clinical yet but the talent was obvious.
“And then made the right decision to go to Bournemouth, went there through all different stages. Last year scored enough goals and now he’s obviously up there with the greatest and I’m so happy for him. He’s a wonderful kid, a real talent and a really good player and did it the hard way. It’s really cool.”
