Liverpool look set to go head-to-head with Manchester United for the signing of Borussia Dortmund forward Youssoufa Moukoko.

It is not a secret that Liverpool are going to plunge into the winter transfer market this January, mainly for a midfielder but signing a forward has not been ruled out either.

One of the main players the Reds have been heavily linked with is Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham, however, a deal this January looks impossible.

Despite it looking unlikely that BVB will sell their star midfielder in the coming months, it looks like the German side are going to be forced to sell another one of their very talented teenagers.

Youssoufa Moukoko, whose youth contract at Dortmund expires next summer, is still yet to sign BVB's extension offer and it is looking like he could be sold in the upcoming transfer window.

Now, a recent report from German outlet BILD has claimed that Liverpool have 'set their sights' on the 17-year-old. However, Jurgen Klopp's side aren't the only club interested in the Dortmund forward with Premier League rivals Manchester United also being linked with Moukoko.

BILD also go on to confirm that the German does currently have a contract proposal on the table from Dortmund that he is yet to sign.

Finally, the German outlet say that Dortmund would want around €30million for Moukoko this January, which is a lot considering he could sign a pre-contract and join on July 1st for free.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Moukoko is one of the most exciting prospects in Europe at the moment so it's not a surprise that he is attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in world football.

I would love us to sign him but I just can't see him playing second fiddle to Darwin Nunez, especially considering that he has just been called up to the German squad for the World Cup and will want guaranteed minutes, something he wouldn't get at Liverpool.

However, if Jurgen Klopp can use his German and BVB connection to complete a deal ahead of other European giants then I definitely would not be complaining as Moukoko improves our squad depth massively.
