Man City's Marmoush and Haaland deals BRUTALLY expose FSG's failings
Despite their poor season so far, Manchester City have been rampant off the pitch this January.
Be it bringing in fresh personnel this transfer window, or tying down their best players for the long term, they have been decisive in their plans and to an extent, you've just got to sit back and give them credit for what's happening.

Six days ago, they agreed on a deal for centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov from RC Lens, then a few days later they confirmed another centre-back in Vitor Reis from Palmeiras. Last night Liverpool target Omar Marmoush was confirmed as on his way, and now Erling Haaland has signed a monumental 10-year deal to stay at the club, with winger Andrea Cambiaso rumoured to also be on the move.
That's potentially four signings in January, alongside agreeing a contract extension for one of the most talented strikers in world football, all constructed by City's owners in a matter of two weeks.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are being left barren by FSG, with sporting director Richard Hughes' desk seemingly empty because of the club's inactivity regarding the transfer market or the contract crisis involving Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.
City's decisiveness shows up Liverpool
Although Manchester City have yet to confirm all four signings, it is clear that their squad needed to be refreshed, and Pep Guardiola has received exactly what he needs to reinvigorate his team.
And despite the players' transfer figures so far proving elusive, the summer sale of Julian Alvarez for £81m, in addition to some academy prospects being moved on, makes it seem fair to suggest that their business has been largely sensible.
However, they have subsequently looked at Erling Haaland's contract and decided that his long-term future needed to be guaranteed, so he has signed a nine-and-a-half-year deal, on a reported £500,000 a week which is set to expire in 2034.
It makes him currently the longest-contracted player in the Premier League, on one of the most expensive contracts in football history. One hell of a way to treat a player that the club values so much.
As it turns out, it is indeed possible for a club to bring players in during a transfer window, while working on contract talks at the same time.
Meanwhile, Liverpool find themselves in need of a left-back, a centre-back, a defensive midfielder and a striker, in addition to the unresolved contract sagas of Trent, Mo and Virgil, each of which are ongoing and have shown no signs of being completed any time soon.
Of course it must be remembered that there is currently an investigation into the club about 115 alleged breaches of Premier League conduct, which is set to be resolved by March.
Nonetheless, for a team that went through a period of one win in 12 matches across all competitions, to respond in such an emphatic way through their recruitment and internal organisation regarding contracts, is mightily impressive.
For us Liverpool fans, we will have to wait and see what FSG and Richard Hughes have in store for us, if anything, but for the time being, the Reds' direct rivals of recent years have shown the club how to get deals done.
