Jurgen Klopp reveals the one thing which makes Liverpool SO special

Jurgen Klopp is into the final stretch as Liverpool manager. The German has only got TWO matches left in charge of the Reds and, perhaps more poignantly, only one more at Anfield.

Having arrived in October 2015, the 56-year-old has put Liverpool back on their pedestal, leading them to domestic, European and world glory throughout his tenure.

The Reds were crowned Champions League and Club World Cup winners back in 2019, Premier League champions in 2020 - their first top-flight title in three decades - and won many other major honours along the way.

Klopp will forever be remembered as an Anfield icon, forging a deep and meaningful connection with the club and the city of Liverpool.

And the boss has revealed the element which makes the place so special to him, in a sitdown interview with Kelly Cates on the club’s in-house media channel

Liverpool, he says, has managed to retain its small-town feel, something which he appreciates having grown up in a rural area where people look out for one another.

“I could have grown up here, definitely,” he said.

“I'm not a city person. I'm obviously from the countryside so if I didn't say hello to the lady in the street, when I arrived at home she called my mom and said: ‘What's wrong with your boy?’

“So that would never happen in a big city but, a little bit, Liverpool kept that.

“But the main thing is still the people, the togetherness, the connection, the heart.

“I knew I will love being here. It became home for us and that's pretty special and we feel really blessed and privileged that we got that opportunity.”

The countdown is on for Klopp’s Liverpool farewell; Aston Villa lie in wait on Monday night before Wolves visit Anfield for Klopp’s final match in charge on the final day of the Premier League season.

As much as Klopp will miss Liverpool, it goes without saying how much the city will miss him.
