Liverpool kickstart their 2025 by welcoming arch-rivals Manchester United to Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds came out of the festive schedule unscathed with impressive wins over Southampton, Spurs, Leicester and West Ham.

Slot will be looking to continue his side’s winning run as they host Ruben Amorim’s struggling United this weekend.

A win here would engrave the Dutchman’s name into Liverpool’s history once more.

Slot could become just the second Liverpool boss to do the league double over United in his first season with the club, after George Kay in 1936-37.

The Reds defeated the Red Devils 3-0 at Old Trafford in matchweek three of the campaign. A brace from Luis Diaz and a Mohamed Salah strike were enough to see off the 14th-place side.

Slot: United better side than the table suggests

Amorim’s side have won just two of their last eight outings, suffering defeats in the other six.

Though their results are worrying, seeing them sit just seven points above the drop zone, Slot believes Manchester United are a better side than what the table suggests.

“For me, I said it before the first fixture and I can say it one more time, they have much better players, in my opinion, than maybe the league table shows at the moment.

“It's maybe going to take a while for Ruben Amorim to bring this out of the players, I don't know, but they will definitely go up and they are much, much, much better than the league shows at the moment,” Slot stated.
