Why Liverpool are CELEBRATING new deal for Pep Guardiola at Man City
Pep Guardiola is signing a new contract with Manchester City and Liverpool will be delighted by it.
Manchester City have confirmed on the club's official website that the Spaniard will be signing a new deal.
For a long time it seemed like Guardiola was going to leave the club upon the expiry of his current deal. However, he will now be sticking around for a little bit longer.
And while some Liverpool fans will view this as a blow, the truth is that the Reds will actually be celebrating Guardiola's stay at the Etihad for various reasons.

Why Liverpool will be celebrating Pep Guardiola's new contract
For one, Guardiola finally seems to be crumbling. His tactics were once impeccable but now Man City are no longer as formidable as they once were.
For the first time in his career, Guardiola lost four games in a row before the November international break. Amid those losses he made some laughable excuses and has bemoaned the club's current injury crisis - which is no worse than Liverpool's at the moment.
For that reason alone, with the cracks beginning to appear in Guardiola's reign, Liverpool will not be concerned about Guardiola's contract extension.

But there's more to the story.
The thing with Arne Slot is that he used to be a Guardiola disciple. That means the Dutchman knows Man City inside and out and that's exactly what you want.
There's a reason why the adage goes: keep your friends close and keep your enemies even closer.
Slot's knowledge of Guardiola's style of play will be invaluable in Liverpool's quest to win the Premier League title. It means the Reds have a huge advantage over their nemesis.
And it's one they would have lost next season if Guardiola had moved on.
But for now at least Liverpool will keep that edge over City and that is why the Reds will be celebrating the Spaniard's new contract at the Etihad.
