Arne Slot aiming to SNAP Jurgen Klopp's decade-long failure
Liverpool’s need for three points on Sunday is pressing. The Reds have only managed one win in their last three Premier League games, opening the door ever so slightly to Arsenal in the race for the title.

Even if the Gunners manage to defeat West Ham on Saturday, they would still be five points behind Arne Slot’s men heading into the Reds’ weekend fixture. Lying in wait for the league leaders are Manchester City and their hapless manager Pep Guardiola.
EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool’s insane contract offer to Mo Salah
City are nowhere near mounting a Premier League challenge this season, suffering an alarming drop-off after winning four titles in a row. That said, they have picked up their league form in recent weeks and are among the top-performing Premier League teams since the start of 2025.
Liverpool will be desperate to maintain their eight-point cushion to Arsenal in second place should they beat the Hammers. And should the Gunners slip up, then Liverpool will have the chance to open a decisive gap on the north London side.
Can Arne Slot do double over Man City?
Although Liverpool’s form hasn’t been as water-tight as it had been at the start of the season, Arsenal are running out of games to make up the difference at the top.

And in order to take a giant leap towards the title this weekend, Arne Slot will have to do something Liverpool haven’t achieved in a decade - namely a league double over Manchester City and an away win at the Etihad
The Reds have only done the league double over City twice - in 2005/06 and in 2015/16 - Jurgen Klopp’s first season in charge. He never again beat City in the league away from home following that 4-1 win at the Etihad in November 2015.
An Eliaquim Mangala own goal and one each for Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Martin Skrtel were enough to see off Manuel Pellegrini’s City in their final season before Guardiola took over.
Klopp’s league record at the Etihad after that was patchy to say the least, a run that included a 5-0, a 4-0 and a 4-1 defeat. But this is shaping up to be a historical season for Arne Slot, who stands on the brink of the Premier League title in his very first season in charge.
EXCLUSIVE: The Arne Slot protege READY to join Liverpool
This is a campaign of breaking new boundaries, a template set from the opening whistle, and Liverpool will be looking forward to overturning some historical wrongs on Sunday and going one step - and three points - closer to their first title since 2020.
