Liverpool launch Zakaria transfer enquiry

25-year-old midfielder Denis Zakaria would appear to be of interest to Liverpool, with reports claiming that the Reds are among those to have enquired over the availability of the player for a transfer this month.

The Reds are not normally busy in the January transfer window and the expectancy is that not too much business will be done.

However, there are still some rather interesting transfer rumours doing the rounds despite that, with the window now open for business until the end of this month.

With Liverpool seeing Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita all jetting off to AFCON for the next few weeks, there's naturally discussion as to whether the Reds should sign some new faces and, according to Jonathan Shrager, an enquiry has been made over Zakaria:

Anfield Watch Verdict

Zakaria is a midfielder that would bring energy and industry to the Liverpool side if he joined.

It appears, though, it would not be an easy race to win if the Reds are particularly keen on getting him, with old rivals Manchester United and German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund both apparently eager on his signature.

The Swiss international currently plays for German side Borussia Monchengladbach and so, naturally, the expectation might be that he ends up at Munich in particular, as that so often seems the case in the Bundesliga.

Liverpool, though, have been able to sign players from Germany pretty effectively in the recent past themselves, and so perhaps Zakaria could be the next?
