Liverpool set to LOSE left-back for rest of the season
Liverpool’s loan system has worked some serious wonders this season.
Ben Doak, Owen Beck and Lewis Koumas are all reaping the benefits of an extended stay in the Championship, while Jayden Danns is looking to do the same now that he’s headed out to Sunderland for the rest of the season.

One player who was also benefiting from the loan system was Luke Chambers.
The left-back had spent the latter half of this season and the early part of the current one at League One side Wigan Athletic, making 29 appearances for the side.
He even managed six goal involvements for the Latics, but a back injury suffered back in October 2024 has kept him out of action.
Chambers returned to Liverpool for rehab and it was assumed that he would remain at the club through the start of next season when another loan could be sought.
But, as explained by Wigan manager Shaun Maloney, Chambers has been allowed to go back out to Wigan for the second half of the season.
"He's still a Wigan player, and it's brilliant news," Latics boss Shaun Maloney said to Wigan Today. "Liverpool have allowed us to keep him here.”
Luke Chambers' season hangs in the balance
But Maloney was frank about Chambers’ prospects over the rest of the season.
"Look, it's not going to be any time in the next few weeks you'll see him back in a Wigan jersey.” he continued.
"We're still going to have to manage him carefully, and he probably won't be able to play three games in a week all the time.
"I'd imagine it'll be around the March international weekend that we'll see him back on the field, and we're all looking forward to that."
Being able to put a timeframe on Chambers’ return is an incredibly positive step from the scenario which was expected to see him not return to the pitch for the rest of the season.
Chambers had been a starting force for Wigan throughout the season. His injury has forced Wigan to address the position entirely, signing Jon Mellish from League Two strugglers Carlisle United in the January transfer window.

And whilst Maloney admitted Chambers would have to earn his place back in the team, he would almost certainly be their best option again when fit and ready.
