Liverpool Transfer News: Italian giants READY to sign Luis Diaz after LATEST setback

It’s becoming clearer and clearer that, whatever Liverpool’s starting lineup is on the first day of next season, it certainly won’t be the same as it is now.

It feels like there are too many moving parts for the same side to return. Between the infamous contracts of Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold and the rumoured approaches for Martin Zubimendi, Omar Marmoush and Milos Kerkez, something has to give.

Amongst this is the disquiet between Ibrahima Konate and Luis Diaz about their current contracts. Both feel they deserve significant pay rises due to their contributions to the team, which are difficult to argue against.

But a recent report stated that Diaz in particular was unhappy with Liverpool’s offer and was willing to leave the club.

Now, a new report by Colombian sports outlet Antena 2 has suggested that negotiations between the club and the winger have failed and there is a very interested suitor.

“The striker's entourage has revealed that negotiations for his renewal with the Reds have failed… his leading role in the team led by Arne Slot is not related to the salary he receives and he has demanded an improvement in his contract to match the club's leaders.” reads the report.

And whilst both Barcelona and PSG have had their interest in Diaz previously registered, it is now AC Milan that appear to be bullish about the Colombian international.

“In recent days, Milan’s interest in signing the Barrancas native has gained strength again . The Rossoneri's idea is to add a world-class player who can be the team's catalyst, and the Colombian is one of the main options.”

“In Italy, Díaz is seen as a key piece to reinforce the attack of the San Siro team, which could be very unbalanced on the wings.” the report continues, “All this, added to his speed, skill and goal-scoring ability, fits perfectly into the dynamic style of play that the club is looking for.”

The financial aspect is reportedly still difficult for the Rossoneri, but when there’s a will there’s a way.

Diaz would be an interesting addition in Italy. Milan currently deploy talisman Rafael Leao on the left, although Paulo Fonseca would surely find a way to get both dynamic dribblers on the pitch.

For Liverpool it would represent an unfortunate but perhaps necessary end to a beloved player’s tenure at Anfield. With Diaz’s contract running until 2026, the Reds would be able to recoup a welcome fee for the Colombian that they could reinvest in bolstering their squad depth.
