Luis Diaz is making Liverpool's £75m deal look VERY silly
Luis Diaz is on fire - and that £75m couldn't look much worse, could it? Liverpool ended up on the right side of things.
It was a hattrick for Luis Diaz on Tuesday evening. He found three in Liverpool's 4-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen as the Colombian secured one of his greatest nights in the Reds shirt.
Probably the greatest, in all honesty.

Diaz was electric and put Xabi Alonso's team to the sword. In doing so, he bagged his 7th, 8th and 9th goals of the season. He's now just four behind his tally of last season.
And he's already beaten his 2022/23 total (though, had already done so before Tuesday). Diaz is having a fantastic season, in other words, and looks like one of the world's most dangerous forwards.
But things could have been so, so different.
Luis Diaz's big replacement
Diaz has been good for Liverpool since joining - but not consistent. He's been an unreliable player, one capable of shining very brightly who's just as likely to disappear in a match.
Things have been different this season, of course, but there was a sense in the summer that Diaz may be disposable. Reports linked him with an exit and it appears Liverpool considered it strongly.
They had a deal with Newcastle United to sign Anthony Gordon back in June. Joe Gomez would have gone the other way and Liverpool would have had a new left winger.
Diaz would have been first on the chopping block, but it appears Arne Slot quickly liked what he saw and wanted to keep the Colombian. Thank God that's how it went.
Gordon is a good player but the form Liverpool are getting out of Diaz right now is remarkable. Slot has him playing the most effective football of his career.
And that £75m deal to replace him now looks very silly. Liverpool have a better player without spending a penny.
