WATCH: Quickfire Luis Diaz double puts Liverpool in control against Bournemouth

After a slow start where Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo had a goal disallowed for offside, Liverpool found themselves in cruise control after Luis Diaz scored two in two minutes.

For his first, Ibrahima Konate's long ball found Diaz who made a remarkable run and once Kepa Arrizabalaga came out of his box and failed to win the ball, the Colombian dribbled passed him with ease to slot in the opener.

And just as the replays began to finish, Liverpool found themselves with their second massive opportunity of the match, as Trent Alexander-Arnold's run through the midfield left a basic pass through the lines for Diaz to notch his second.

It caps off the winger's remarkable start to the Premier League this season, scoring five goals and making one assist.

The 27-year-old was on the bench for the midweek victory against AC Milan in the Champions League, with Arne Slot's decision to leave the South American out being questioned in some quarters.

Cody Gakpo did well in his absence but there is no doubt a fresh-looking Diaz had a spring in his step at Anfield on Saturday when the Cherries came to town.

After an uncertain end to the season last term under Jurgen Klopp, and plentiful transfer rumours regarding a move to Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona, Diaz has now firmly established himself as a top player under the new head coach.

It's surely only a matter of time before Diaz's strong form merits a new contract, significantly improving the terms he signed when joining from Porto in 2022.

Meanwhile, Darwin Nunez was restored to the starting lineup at the expense of Diogo Jota, with the Uruguayan netting a spectacular third goal for the Reds just before half-time.
