Former Liverpool goalkeeper and free agent Loris Karius was offered to AC Milan in a move that would have been a dream for his wife, DAZN presenter and model Diletta Leotta.

Karius, whose contract at Newcastle expired at the end of last season, seems likely to make a Premier League exit but AC Milan have other plans to replace the injured Marco Sportiello.

That's according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, who claims that Karius is not an option for Milan at this stage.

Earlier this year, Leotta beseeched the German to consider her Italy as his next career move so he could be closer to her and their daughter.

“I live in Milan, so let’s say being close to Milan would be ideal for us,” speaking to Italian newspaper Tuttosport.

“I always tell him, players who come to Serie A then fall in love with Italy and often stay there forever. I think that could happen to him too.

“[He should join] Monza or any other team in Italy. I would be happy if he came to Italy to play near his family.”

KARIUS POST-LIVERPOOL CAREER HAS NOT GONE TO PLAN

Karius, who made 49 appearances for Liverpool, only featured twice since his move to Tyneside, including starting in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup Final defeat to Manchester United.

Signed by Jurgen Klopp to be Simon Mignolet’s successor, the German struggled to find the consistency that saw him become so highly rated in his native country.

As a result, Karius began his second season at Anfield as the second-choice goalkeeper before becoming an ever-present in Jurgen Klopp’s side that fought their way to the Champions League final.

But unfortunately for the German, he found himself at the centre of that heartbreaking night in Kyiv after his two high-profile mistakes contributed to Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over The Reds.

Since then, Karius has never been able to revive his career after spells at Besiktas, Union Berlin and Newcastle.
