Liverpool's youth and underage sides continue to produce exemplary young players.

Names like Tyler Morton, Trey Nyoni, Ben Doak and many more highlight the Reds' fantastic youth systems and opportunities given to these players to experience first-team football both at the club and outside.

On Wednesday, one loanee midfielder showcased his ability in the Champions League for Red Bull Salzburg, despite his team losing heavily.

Bajčetić bright despite loss

RB kicked off their Champions League campaign last night away to Sparta Praha. Salzburg, managed by former assistant coach Pep Lijnders had a night to forget.

Sparta ran out comfortable 3-0 winners with Pep’s team struggling to create any meaningful chances and only managing one shot on target the whole game.

Jurgen Klopp’s right-hand man decided to hand two Liverpool academy stars their debuts in the form of Stefan Bajčetić and Bobby Clark, who were both subbed off later on in the second half.

Despite the defeat and dominance of Sparta, Bajčetić notched up some good statistics. He won the most duels with seven, he made six recoveries in midfield and created two chances which was the most for Salzburg.

The Spain underage international was deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield this season with Arne Slot and Richard Hughes opting to send the midfielder for first-team experience under a coach who knows him well.

Having missed much of last season due to injury, Bajčetić is short of match rhythm and was unlikely to challenge the likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo at the base of midfield.

Nonetheless he will have a major part to play for the Reds going forward once his loan deal expires.
