Liverpool are among the clubs taking an interest in Scotland international Lewis Ferguson, according to one report.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has been at Serie A side Bologna since 2022, after making the move from Aberdeen.

Ferguson impressed in his maiden campaign in Italy, netting seven goals in 2022/23, while he has three strikes and two assists in 14 appearances so far this season.

His form has even drawn attention from some of the league's biggest clubs.

That is the claim from Juventus fan site Il Bianconeri, anyway, who say that the ten-cap Scotland star "is the focus of attention from several European clubs", naming Juve and Lazio, as well as Liverpool.

The report states that Lazio are looking to get ahead of the competition by making a move in January, calling him "one of the most sought-after players on the market".

However, there is scant detail on Liverpool's supposed interest in the player who signed a contract extension until 2027 this summer and no potential price tag is mentioned.

The Reds famously underwent a midfield rebuild over the summer, saying goodbye to Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fabinho and Naby Keita, while welcoming in a quartet of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch.

Whether Liverpool have a genuine interest in Ferguson remains to be seen. However, Anfield Watch understands that the recruitment priority for 2024 will be on defence with a left-sided centre back of particular interest.
