Highly rated Denmark full-back Patrick Dorgu has responded to rumours of interest from top clubs including Liverpool.

The 18-year-old defender plays for Serie A side Lecce and made his senior debut for the club earlier this season.

During the summer Dorgu's agent, Kingsley Ogbodo, claimed that Liverpool were among the clubs tracking his client, even claiming that an offer was 'very likely'.

He told Sport Italia: "It is very likely that Liverpool will make an offer. I don’t know if it will happen, but they are interested and they like the player.”

No offer came during the summer transfer window, though the likes of Manchester City and Barcelona have also been touted as possible suitors.

Speaking to Ekstra Bladet, Dorgu – who is under contract at Lecce until 2027 – addressed the speculation over his future by saying: “I really just take it as motivation, that when the big teams look at me, it is because I am doing the right thing and must continue. Then it’s just a matter of time before the big teams come knocking."

However, it is not Liverpool that the young left back is 'dreaming' of playing for, with the youngster adding that he is a boyhood Chelsea fan.

"Chelsea is my dream to play for," he said. "I have been a fan of them for over 10 years, so it would be a huge dream to play for them."

Little known to most football fans, Dorgu is a promising full back who impressed in Leece's youth set up last season, having moved from his native Denmark in 2022.

The teenager, who is of Nigerian descent, has also made appearances for Denmark's youth sides up to Under-21 level.

Liverpool are known to be looking at reinforcing their defensive options in the upcoming transfer windows, while Anfield Watch understands that Piero Hincapie (Leverkusen) and Yukinari Sugawara (AZ) have been looked at.
