Liverpool legend would LOVE Everton relegated if THIS happened
While discussing the possibility of predicting the final Premier League table so early into the season, Stevie Nicol let slip the condition on which he’d want Everton to be relegated.
After just three games Liverpool are sat top of the table with nine points and without conceding a goal, meanwhile, Everton sit dead last having conceded 10, most recently losing in dramatic fashion to Bournemouth.

In an interview with ESPN FC, Nicol was presented with the possibility of a team’s first three league games being 40% indicative of their final position in the table.
Proposed with the concept, his eyes lit up as he burst into laughter. However, if this theory were to have any merit at all, it would result in Liverpool being crowned Premier League champions and Everton simultaneously getting relegated.
Despite neither looking a realistic possibility, with Liverpool having to overcome Manchester City and Arsenal, and Everton needing to be worse than the three promoted teams in order to go down - a trend which has picked up in recent years - Nicol pondered the idea.
A world where Liverpool and Everton are leagues apart?
In response, Nicol said: “It’s always difficult to hang your hat on the statistics.
“I certainly wouldn’t want Everton to get relegated, but if that’s the deal - that Liverpool win the title and they go down - then absolutely, I’ll take it.”
Most recently Liverpool have been able to challenge for the title, but last year was just a step too far in the end. However, with their extra defensive stability so far in this campaign, it’s not the strangest idea that the Reds may go one further this year.
Likewise, Everton have flirted with relegation, but under the helm of Sean Dyche, they’ve always managed to safely escape danger.
The Merseyside derby has been a constant fixture in the Premier League since its conception, but if push came to shove and one thing couldn’t happen without the other, what would you decide?
