A fight with teammate Leroy Sane whilst at Bayern Munich and a recent controversy surrounding the 32-year-old smiling upon the fulltime whistle as his team were knocked out of the King’s Cup are just some examples of the negative press Mane has faced since leaving Liverpool.

It hasn’t all been bad press for the winger though, and the Anfield faithful will be happy to hear about a recent piece of good news about their former hero.

Mane becomes the first international volunteer for top aid agency

The Daily Siasat are reporting that the Senegal captain has become the first international player to volunteer with Saudi Arabia‘s top aid agency; King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief).

KSRelief is a humanitarian organisation that operates in 46 countries, primarily in the Middle East and Northern Africa according to the report.

Mane visited the organisation on the 31 October, where he met with the centre’s General Supervisor, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, KSRelief shared a message of gratitude that said:

Thanks to the Saudi Football Federation for their support and encouragement of these initiatives and contributions, which leave a tangible positive impact and raise awareness about the importance of participating in humanitarian and relief work.

Sadio Mane’s good nature

This story will not come as a surprise to Liverpool supporters, who will remember the many charitable acts that Mane carried out during his time in Merseyside.

Most of the Senegalese winger’s contributions were back in his homeland and in his childhood village, where he has helped to fund the building of a hospital, a school, a fuel station and a post office.

Mane, who played 269 times for Liverpool, is remembered fondly for a number of reasons at Anfield.

His on-pitch relationship with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino brought smiles to the faces of many Kopites, but Mane’s good nature and personality off-pitch were almost as famous as his incredible football abilities.

Reds all around the world will be happy to hear that Mane has continued his humanitarian work even though he no longer graces the Anfield pitch.
