Former Reds player Stan Collymore believes that Divock Origi will depart Anfield a Liverpool legend.

Speaking to Mirror Sport, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the 51-year-old pundit said that Origi has "cemented" himself into the club's folklore.

"Divock Origi departs Liverpool a legend. The player and the club can feel very good about each other as they part ways because of the goal in the Champions League final against Spurs," said Collymore.

“He leaves being able to say, ‘I contributed and I contributed massively’. I know he has scored goals against Everton and the way his role has harked back to ‘Supersub’ himself, David Fairclough.

“But the Champions League final goal was the one that cemented him into club folklore. On top of that, Origi epitomises Jurgen Klopp’s man-management of players. Every time Klopp has been asked about Origi, he has said, ‘He’s a legend'.

“It has been great man-management."

Anfield Watch Verdict

What Origi has achieved at Liverpool is nothing short of remarkable. He came into the club as a nobody and he was expected to be another young player who wouldn't make it at the club.

However, thanks to his hard work and determination, he has now cemented his place in Liverpool's history forever.

He may not be the free-scoring goalscorer that people usually remember. But, he arguably has more memorable moments than most of our highest-ever goalscorers.

What he has done for the city has been great too. His scholarships, which he pays for out of his own pocket, are changing the lives of people every year.

He will always be remembered fondly by the Liverpool faithful and we will all be keeping a keen eye on his future when he officially leaves Anfield on July 1st.
