Liverpool 'keeping track' of Chelsea & England midfielder

Liverpool and Italian giants Juventus are said to be keeping an eye on Chelsea and England midfielder Mason Mount.

With Liverpool heading into the upcoming transfer windows in desperate need of a midfielder, a lot of players are starting to be linked.

The most notable has been Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham but the likes of West Ham United's Declan Rice and RB Leipzig's Konrad Laimer have also been rumoured with a move to Anfield recently.

One player that not many Liverpool fans expected to be linked with a move to Jurgen Klopp's side was Chelsea's Mason Mount. However, a recent report from the Guardian, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, has claimed that the Reds are one of the clubs currently tracking him.

The report states that Klopp's side and Juventus are currently monitoring Mount's situation at Stamford Bridge as there is uncertainty around his future due to his contract ending in 18 months.

The 23-year-old has been in discussions with Chelsea since the summer, but with no sign of a breakthrough, this has prompted clubs to check whether he could be lured away from Stamford Bridge.

Anfield Watch Verdict

This news seemed to come out of nowhere but the more I think about it the more it would make sense for Liverpool to try and sign Mount.

He's 23-years-old, homegrown and his market value is around €75million, so if they could get him on the cheap next summer then it's a great business deal.

Also, he can play multiple positions, something we know Klopp likes. He can competently play on both wings and he is also a central and attacking midfielder, something we know Liverpool need.

I also think Mount would be the perfect Klopp player, he could be the Philippe Coutinho replacement we've been waiting for since the Brazilian left.

Do I think this will happen? Probably not. I can't see Todd Boehly letting one of his most prized assets leave and Mount is also a Chelsea fan through and through so unless he wants a change of scenery I can't see him pushing for a move.
