Liverpool are reportedly closely monitoring Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, who they consider a potential long-term replacement for star forward Mohamed Salah.

A recent report from HITC suggests that the 26-year-old, a key figure in Max Allegri's squad, now finds himself in the spotlight as discussions over his contract extension have hit an impasse.

With his current deal set to expire in 18 months, concerns are mounting that the Italian may be seeking a new challenge.

Widespread interest

Liverpool, along with several other clubs, including Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain and Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich, are reportedly keen on enticing Chiesa away from Turin should he opt for a new challenge.

The winger, who can play anywhere across the frontline, announced himself on the international stage when he formed a key part of Roberto Mancini's Italy team that won Euro 2020, beating England in the final.

Since his move from Fiorentina to Juventus in 2020, initially on loan before making the transfer permanent, Chiesa has established himself as a vital asset for the Italian giants.

While at Juve, he has notched 28 goals and 22 assists across 113 appearances in all competitions.

Ongoing Saudi pursuit

The links to Chiesa come amid ongoing interest from the Saudi Pro League for Liverpool forward Mo Salah.

According to The Athletic, Al Ittihad haven't abandoned their pursuit of the Egyptian, indicating their willingness to offer up to £200 million for his services.

This possibility remains on the table for the upcoming summer transfer window, according to the report.

Such a staggering sum would undoubtedly catch Liverpool's attention. Not only could it significantly bolster their transfer budget, but it could also facilitate the rebuilding of other areas of the squad and allow any incoming manager to shape the team in their own image.

As Liverpool strategise for the future, the prospect of securing Chiesa's services could offer a seamless transition in the event of Salah's departure.
