Kaide Gordon has a new long-term contract with Liverpool. It comes after the youngster scored a wonderful brace.

Liverpool announced on Friday that Kaide Gordon has signed a new long-term contract with the club. Gordon, who is still only 19, signs it and the end of a torrid time.

The winger was a regular in the first-team squad at the start of 2022 but a hip injury kept him out for over a year. It's only really the last five months that Gordon has played consistent football again.

But it has been consistent. Gordon featured in every Premier League 2 fixture from January onwards - in fact, he played at least 86 minutes in all of them. He even had a runout in the senior side in 2024.

And Gordon showed just how good he is this week with a brilliant brace for the Under 21s. They faced Crystal Palace in the Premier League 2 playoffs Round of 16.

Gordon, captaining the side, scored twice in a 3-2 win. One of them was an absolute beauty, too, as he curled a looping shot into the far corner from outside the box.

Kaide Gordon's future

Everyone's future is a little unknown right now as Liverpool will have a new manager going forward. How they fit into a new style of play and gel with the new boss will determine their gametime.

Jurgen Klopp has always been a big fan of Gordon. He used him incredibly early on in his career and gave him minutes in big games against top teams.

The German called Gordon a 'big talent' back in 2022 and tellingly, brought him back into the fold immediately once he was back playing regular youth football.

Will Gordon have the same faith from the next boss? The people behind the scenes at Liverpool clearly believe he will do - hence the new contract.
