Liverpool to lose another KEY Jurgen Klopp signing at the end of the season

Andreas Kornmayer, Liverpool’s current Head of Fitness and Conditioning, will LEAVE the club at the end of the season, according to a new report. 

The 49-year-old is a key ally of outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp, having moved to Anfield for his first full season in charge back in 2016. 

Fans couldn't believe their eyes when he first came to the club, such was his resemblance to the manager, leading to Kornmayer receiving his 'Kloppelganger' nickname.

Kornmayer was at Bayern Munich for 15 years before being approached for the Liverpool job by Klopp, who credited his compatriot for preparing the Bavarians well during their 2012-13 treble-winning campaign. 

He worked under Louis van Gaal, Jupp Heynckes and Pep Guardiola for the first team at the Allianz Arena, having been promoted by Van Gaal, before being encouraged by Klopp to swap the Bundesliga for the Premier League. 

Sky Sports reported last year that Kornmayer had developed a reputation as an individual who was ‘hard to work with’. 

He now leaves the club alongside EVEN MORE of Klopp’s trusted backroom team at the end of the current campaign according to David Lynch of This Is Anfield. 

Assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders, Peter Krawietz, Vitor Matos and John Achterberg are among those whose departures have already been announced. 

Also leaving is Andreas Schlumberger, Head of Recovery and Performance, while sporting director Jorg Schmadtke left at the end of the January transfer window. 

Hughes and Edwards need a full Anfield revamp

It means a full revamp behind the scenes for incoming sporting director Richard Hughes, FSG’s Head of Football Michael Edwards and new head coach Arne Slot with a host of backroom appointments now required. 

Slot, 45, is expected to bring assistant coach Sipke Hulsoff with him from Feyenoord while Head of Performance Ruben Peeters and Technical Advisor Etienne Reijnen are also in line for Anfield roles. 

Compensation between the Rotterdam club and Liverpool has broadly been agreed with Slot and his staff commanding a fee of around £10 million. 

Liverpool’s injury issues this season have been well documented with top stars like Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, Andy Robertson, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai, Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah among those missing multiple matches this term.
