Liverpool wonderkid celebrates ANOTHER landmark after agreeing new deal
Earlier this week, under-18’s striker Josh Sonnie-Lambie signed his first professional contract for the Reds.
As it is for every young player coming through an academy, it was a momentous moment that the youngster will be sure to never forget.

You’d probably assume his week couldn’t get any better. How could it? His future has been laid right in front of him.
Well a goal against Manchester United under-18’s is probably the only way you could top that.
Picking the ball up on the left-hand side, sitting two defenders down and cutting the ball back across the keeper - yes, that sounds like the way to make your week better.
And it’s exactly what Sonnie-Lambie has done.
The sky is the limit for Sonnie-Lambie
But maybe we shouldn’t be surprised about this. Sonnie-Lambie played 19 times for the under-18’s last season despite the fact he only just turned 17 four months ago.
As explained by Anfield Watch in our story on his new contract, the attacker is a “technically astute player with brilliant intelligent positional awareness”.

This is evident in the fact that today’s goal brings him to nine goal involvements for the under-18’s in just 13 games so far this season.
And that comes amid a fine vein of form, with it being his seventh goal involvement in the past six games, including a goal and a brace of assists against Wolves in December.
The wiseness-beyond-his-years that earned the young attacker his professional contract has also been shown by his inclusion in squads in the UEFA Youth League this year - the academy version of the Champions League - sharing the dressing room with players such as Trey Nyoni, Rio Ngumoha and Amara Nallo, amongst others.

It’s an incredibly promising situation for both player and club. The academy scene has been a serious source of help for the Liverpool first-team this year amid a hectic schedule. And with Josh Sonnie-Lambie, long may it reign.
