Carragher's son signs MASSIVE new deal after overcoming MAJOR struggles
Jamie Carragher's son has penned a new contract at Wigan Athletic after overcoming major struggles during the beginning of his career.
James Carragher spent his youth career coming through the ranks at Liverpool before moving to Wigan at U14 level.
Now 21 years old, the young Carra is currently enjoying his breakthrough season at the club, even winning the club's Player of the Month award back in September, beating Liverpool loanee Luke Chambers to the prize.
Now he has agreed a new deal with Wigan as a reward for his fine form with Carragher putting pen to a major new deal until 2027.
"I'm buzzing. Playing for this Club is always a proud moment, and I'm happy to have signed a contract extension. I came in this pre-season with the aim of getting an achievement like this," Carragher told Wigan's official website.

James Carragher's inspiring journey to new Wigan contract
The Liverpool legend's son hasn't had an easy route to senior football despite having one of the Reds' most decorated players as his father.
During his early youth days, Wigan Athletic's website has detailed how he had to overcome several injuries which meant he wasn't able to break into the club's senior team.
Instead, after overcoming his major injury struggles, Carragher went out on loan to Inverness CT in Scotland and that's where he made 20 appearances last season before returning to Wigan this summer and breaking into the first team.

How similar is James Carragher to his father?
Even based on appearance, the resemblance between Carragher and his son is uncanny.
But it's not just the outer appearances where James is similar to his father.
The 21-year-old just like Jamie plays as a centre-back and is known as a no nonsense defender with an excellent ability to read the game - which was also one of the strongest attributes of his father in his heyday.
James is also regarded as a leader on the pitch. Back in his youth days, he captained Wigan at several levels and this is something he has clearly taken on from his father as well, who was the vice captain of Liverpool for several years.
