Liverpool interested in signing €37m-rated PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare

PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare is attracting interest from several European giants, with Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich reportedly said to be keeping tabs on the Ivorian midfielder. 

Sangare is believed to have a release clause of around €37m and could emerge as a realistic option for the Reds as they look to reinforce their engine room. Kiki Musampa, who is believed to be the brother of Sangare's agent, reckons the midfielder could be on the move this summer, having already seen an approach from Nottingham Forest turned down for his services.

Speaking to Good Morning Eredivisie (quotes via ESPN,nl), Musampa explained the reasoning behind the €37m release clause in Sangare's contract.

He said: “For those kinds of clubs, these are amounts that they can cough up. Nottingham Forest did bid, but that was not enough. You want to bring him to the club that suits him and where he will have opportunities to play.”

Liverpool are set to be active in the transfer market in the coming weeks as they look to add a defensive midfielder to their ranks. Sangare certainly fits the billing, with the Reds currently lacking the Ivorian midfielder's imposing physique and tough-tackling ability in the center of the park. Any deal for the 24-year-old is likely to be straightforward owing to a release clause in his contract, while his price would also allow Liverpool to add another midfielder to their squad.

Sangare is not the only midfielder who has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks. After failing with their eleventh-hour hijack of Moises Caicedo - who looks set to join Chelsea for a British record fee believed to be in the region of £115m - the Reds remain locked in talks to sign Southampton's Romeo Lavia.

After weeks of negotiations, the Reds have finally agreed a £60m deal to sign the Belgian midfielder. However, with Chelsea also believed to be in the running, Liverpool face a battle in their hands to convince the 19-year-old to choose Anfield as his next destination.
