Injury boost for Liverpool ahead of Man Utd showdown - two stars spotted training

As Liverpool gear up for Sunday's FA Cup tie away at Manchester United, the latest injury update from the AXA Training Centre has produced some good news for the Reds.

Following his recent injury setback during last Thursday's 5-1 victory over Sparta Prague, defender Ibrahima Konate has been spotted back in training, albeit away from the main group.

Given that the Frenchman isn't yet part of team training, this would suggest that he will be ruled out of the Europa League last 16 return leg on Thursday. However, he could yet still play a part in Sunday's FA Cup clash at Old Trafford.

The nature of Konate's injury has been something of a mystery so far. He was withdrawn after 51 minutes after requiring on-field treatment at the epet ARENA with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Speaking in his press conference to preview the 1-1 draw with Manchester City, coach Jurgen Klopp's response produced more questions than answers.

Speaking last Friday, he said: "Ibou was rather positive last night, he thought he made the right decision in the right moment saying it's better I go [off]. But how we know, that doesn't mean a lot unfortunately. He will get scanned, definitely, [but] so far I don't have the results of that."

Bajcetic update

Meanwhile, Sky Sports' Vinnie O'Connor also provided an update on the health of young midfielder Stefan Bajcetic.

The 19-year-old is continuing his recovery from a long-term adductor injury that has sidelined him since September. He has also been seen at the AXA Training Centre, stepping up his rehabilitation.

That said, "Bajcetic still looks a long way from training with the first team," O'Connor reported, hinting at ongoing challenges.

Klopp, in his most recent update about the Spaniard at the end of February, said: "He’s pain-free, completely pain-free, which is obviously the most important thing. All checks we made, like scans again, bone looks good, that’s all fine and he’s just doing the stuff he’s doing."

The German then elaborated on the challenges facing getting Bajcetic back to full training, explaining: "You have to do it at high speed, slow down in a split-second and go again, these kind of things. We try as much as we can to do these [things] in rehab sessions but in the end you cannot put in 10 other players, or more, to recreate a proper game situation."
