Liverpool vs Brighton: Injury blow confirmed as lineups revealed
Liverpool have had an injury blow confirmed with there being a notable omission from the squad announced to face Brighton on Sunday.
Andy Robertson is absent from the teamsheet after suffering an ankle injury while on international duty with Scotland.
While Jurgen Klopp quelled fears that the left-back could be out for an extended period of time in his Friday press conference, confirming that the issue was 'not serious', he has not been deemed fit enough to feature in the contest against the Seagulls.
Conor Bradley returns to the lineup in Robertson's stead, filling in at right-back in a back four that also consists of Jarell Quansah, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. Ibrahima Konate makes the bench after recently returned from the sidelines.
Caoimhin Kelleher keeps his place in goal, with Alisson still a couple weeks away from a return to action.
In midfield, Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister all start in an unchanged middle three that played against Manchester United before the international break. There is no Curtis Jones on the teamsheet.
Darwin Nunez leads the line for the Reds, playing alongside Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz who occupy the wings.
Speaking in his pre-match programme notes, Jurgen Klopp said: “Obviously we are now in the final months of the season and although the games are running out, we still have so, so much to play for.
"Reaching this stage in the condition that we are in is not too bad, I would say. Now we just have to focus on making the most of the opportunities that we have given ourselves."
Ahead of the season run-in, captain Van Dijk echoed this sentiment, saying: "We are in a good position and it makes sense to recognise that. It is a position that we have put ourselves in through blood, sweat and tears and there is no reason to expect the required formula to change now.
"If anything, we will have to give even more because that is just the way it is when the prizes come into view. There will be no let-up from any of the other teams, so there can't be any from us. The reality is that all teams are playing for something.
