Liverpool are one step CLOSER to making IMPOSSIBLE transfer this summer
Liverpool could have moved a step closer to making a transfer that might have seemed impossible at the beginning of the summer transfer window.
Right now, all the focus for Liverpool is on Martin Zubimendi. The club are desperate to pull off who they regard as the ideal no.6 to play in Arne Slot's system.
However, Richard Hughes and his recruitment team will be working on other deals as well. Most notably, Giorgi Mamardashvili is one that seems to be in the works.
Away from those deals, another priority for Liverpool will be to bring in a centre-back. The Reds have been keen to sign a centre-back since the beginning of the summer.
With Joe Gomez and Sepp van den Berg's future uncertain, it's now becoming an even more important priority. And there's one player who they could have moved a step closer to signing.

Why Liverpool have moved a step closer to signing Levi Colwill
At the beginning of this summer, Givemesport reported that while Liverpool still appreciated Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill, they thought he was impossible to sign this summer.
Chelsea have been reluctant to sell the defender who they rate highly. However, with the club closing in on a deal for yet another transfer in Pedro Neto this summer, that stance might change.
Chelsea currently have 41 players registered to their first team squad. The reality is that they will need to sell players in order to free up the squad from now until the end of the window.
On top of that, they must also be mindful of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), which means they will also need to generate more income.
Given that context, it would not be a surprise if the Blues were forced into selling Colwill. As the window nears closer to completion, there will be a scramble to sell players and Liverpool can capitalise on Chelsea's panic to swoop in a complete a major coup.
Hughes and co. will be keen to bring in a centre-back and Colwill's situation at Chelsea is one to keep a close eye on.
