Liverpool received two immediate offers for Owen Beck after cutting his loan spell at Dundee short this week. The left-back isn't going anywhere.

This is from The Times. They report that Liverpool received offers from both Celtic and Rangers for Owen Beck once it became clear they were cutting his loan spell at Dundee short.

The left-back arrived back on Merseyside this week as the Reds boosted their options in the position. Beck can now cover for the absent Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.

Beck does so after a seriously impressive spell with Dundee. He's caught the eye all season long and in doing so, generated interest from the two biggest clubs in Scottish football. There's really no better proof of his success than that.

Celtic wanted to sign Beck permanently, while Rangers were simply hoping to get him on loan for the rest of the season as their new first-choice left-back. Liverpool, however, didn't entertain either option and have rejected the proposals.

Beck will instead remain at Anfield. Robertson is expected back in late January, though he may not be ready for regular first-team football until some way into February. Tsimikas will be out well into next month.

Thus Beck should get some minutes in his favoured position. There's every expectation that he'll be in the squad for the FA Cup tie against Arsenal on Sunday - he may even start.

In doing so, Liverpool free-up Joe Gomez to play at right-back or centre-back again. And from there, Trent Alexander-Arnold could play in midfield. Beck is a bit of a missing puzzle piece here and one that could be invaluable at Anfield over the next month or so.

If he performs well, Celtic and Rangers will certainly be back in for him this summer. Perhaps a few Premier League sides will have an eye out, too. Either way, it's an exciting time for Beck - let's see what he can do.
