Ibrahima Konate stats that show how dominant he was against Brentford

Ibrahima Konate was one of many standouts as Liverpool defeated Brentford 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Arne Slot's Liverpool extended their perfect start to the 2024/25 Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Brentford courtesy of goals from Luis Diaz and Mohammed Salah.

It was a collective display of dominance from Liverpool with most players making a case to be player of the match, with one of them being Konate.

The Frenchman was the only player to be brought into the starting team replacing Jarell Quansah who was a doubt coming into the weekend after sustaining a knock on Tuesday.

Konate produced a colossus display next to Virgil van Dijk with the 25 year-old making more tackles (3) than any other Liverpool player, whilst also winning possesion an impressive six times.

"I think we controlled this game because we worked so hard. People think this game was easy but it was not easy, it was hard because we ran a lot.

"We work hard together and this was very good for everyone.

"We are not very 100 per cent because it's a new manager, we start new things – but I think this will come very quick and I'm so excited to be 100 per cent with what the manager wants. We have to work every day for that," Konate said to Liverpool FC.

KONATE DOMINANT IN DUELS ONCE MORE

Last weekend against Ipswich, Slot introduced Konate to the fold at half-time after being unimpressed with the lack of duels his side were winning.

The Dutchman believed the centre back would offer his side more joy in terms of winning duels and in-turn allowing the Reds to get control of the game.

The Liverpool Boss' idea came to fruition after the interval and Konate carried on his dominance against Brentford's forwards yesterday too.

The centre-back had a 100% success rate in his battles against The Bees as he looks to provide Slot with a real headache on who his first choice centre-back pairing should be.

After backing up an impressive second-half display at Portman Road with a flawless Anfield performance, you'd tip Konate to start alongside Van Dijk at Old Trafford next Sunday.
