Liverpool could potentially make a move for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.

According to a report from Todofichajes, as cited on Twitter, the Reds have made contact with the Frenchman's representatives.

As things stand, Dembele will be a free agent next summer. The 24-year-old's contract expires in June 2022.

However, Barcelona boss Xavi would like to renew Dembele's contract.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Barcelona signed Dembele from Borussia Dortmund for a transfer fee of €135 million back in the summer of 2017.

However, the winger has failed to live up to his price tag. Dembele has only scored 30 goals and registered 21 assists in 119 appearances for Barcelona.

But, the Frenchman is a better player than what the aforementioned statistics suggest. There is a reason why Barcelona paid such a hefty fee for Dembele.

The 24-year-old's career is far from finished. Therefore, we would love to see Liverpool sign Dembele.

The only concern we have with the youngster is his inability to stay fit. But, seeing as the Reds could sign Dembele on a free transfer next summer, we would love to see the club take a punt on him.
