“Liverpool have followed him for years" - Fabrizio Romano on Ismaila Sarr

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool have followed Watford forward Ismaila Sarr for a number of years.

The winger has been a solid player for the Hornets. Sarr has scored 25 goals and registered 19 assists in 94 appearances for Watford.

Despite Liverpool's interest in the Senegal international, they have not made a move for the 24-year-old, according to Romano.

“Liverpool have followed him for years but have never made any proposals. (Jurgen) Klopp’s focus is on other deals. Sarr can be a surprise from here to the end of the market. Liverpool could be the right fit for Sarr’s talents," he told Caught Offside, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

"He is a similar style of player to his compatriot Sadio Mane, who had a great career at Anfield before moving to Bayern Munich this summer."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Sarr would be a fine addition to Liverpool's attack. As we have pointed out, the winger can score and create goals.

Sarr also has the ability to press from the front. However, the Reds don't necessarily need to sign another forward this summer.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp already has a number of attackers at his disposal (Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota).

So, Sarr would probably not get much of an opportunity if the Reds were to sign him this summer. But, we are not against the club making a move for the 24-year-old in the near future.

Only time will tell if Liverpool are to link up with Sarr.
