Liverpool have 'edged' ahead of Real Madrid in the race for Jude Bellingham

Liverpool could be on the cusp of signing Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder Jude Bellingham ahead of Spanish giants Real Madrid.

It is no secret that Liverpool are huge admirers of Borussia Dortmund's 19-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham. So much so that a recent report claimed that Jurgen Klopp had been given €100m to go 'all in' for him.

However, the Reds aren't the only team interested in signing Bellingham. Premier League rivals Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the 19-year-old.

Another club that are also showing a lot of interest in the England midfielder is Spanish giants Real Madrid, who beat Liverpool to the transfer of Aurelien Tchouameni last summer.

Los Blancos apparently pitched the idea to Bellingham's camp that he, Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga would be at the centre of Madrid's team for the next decade.

Fortunatley, recent news from football magazine FourFourTwo, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, has claimed that Liverpool have now edged ahead of Real Madrid in the race for Bellingham and could well tie up the deal before FSG sell the club.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Even though a report came out earlier today claiming that FSG are looking to sell the club, it's nice to hear that it shouldn't be affecting our upcoming transfer windows.

It seems like Madrid's interest in Jude is newer than Liverpool's, which doesn't bode well for the Spanish club as the Reds have had years to establish a great realtionship with the 19-year-olds camp.

Even though Real probably have more money than us, if we were not able to complete this transfer by at least next summer, there would be absolute mayhem within the fanbase.

Hopeully we can see this transfer over the line and not lose our main midfield target to Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid side, again.
