Alan Shearer and Andy Cole share the G+A record (47)
It is jointly held by Andy Cole for Newcastle in the 1993/94 season; 34 goals and 13 assists in 40 games played and Alan Shearer for Blackburn in 1994/95; also 34 goals and 13 assists and he played all 42 games of that season.
Those are the records for 42-game seasons before the Premier League reduced from 22 teams to 20.
In the modern 38-game Premier League era, the record is 44 goal involvements, shared by Thierry Henry for Arsenal in 2002/03; 24 goals and 20 assists and Erling Haaland in his first Manchester City season (2022/23); 36 goals and 8 assists.
Salah therefore only needs three more goal involvements to break the all-time record and has now claimed the 38-game season record.
Cole's record is notable because he achieved it without taking penalties and he finished both as top scorer and top assist provider that season – the only player in Premier League history to mark such an achievement in a single campaign.
Shearer's record came during the peak of his powers between 1993 and 1996 when he registered three consecutive 30-goal+ seasons in the league.
The many records Salah can break
Salah is already the first Premier League player ever to register 25+ goals and 15+ assists in a single campaign. He’s also set a new Liverpool club record for assists in a Premier League season (18), breaking Steve McManaman's previous record (15) from 1995/96.
Salah has moved past Gordon Hodgson's 241 goals for Liverpool in all competitions, putting him third on the club's all-time scoring list behind only Roger Hunt (285) and Ian Rush (346).
And he's become the first player in Premier League history to be involved in 40+ goals in two different seasons.
In the Premier League's all-time scoring charts, Salah currently sits joint-fifth with 184 goals. At his current pace, he's projected to surpass both Sergio Aguero (also 184) and Andy Cole (187) before the season ends, moving into fourth place overall.
