Richard Hughes has been given even more reasons to complete Warren Zaire-Emery's transfer to Liverpool.

The Reds' sporting director failed to bring in a midfielder last summer. Having heavily pursued a move for Martin Zubimendi, Hughes could not get the deal over the line.

Instead, Zubimendi ended up staying put at Sociedad and leaving Liverpool with a headache.

Arne Slot found a solution through Ryan Gravenberch who was moved to the holding midfield role and has become a revelation. But he's getting tired and his legs can only take so much.

It's clear Liverpool need someone else alongside him in the squad who can come in, play the same amount of minutes and do just as impressive of a job.

The Zubimendi ship might have sailed for Liverpool but the Zaire-Emery one definitely hasn't and Hughes has now been given an even bigger green light to pursue a move.

Hughes gets Zaire-Emery green light

Anfield Watch exclusively revealed that Liverpool would be prepared to pay whatever it takes to sign Zaire-Emery from PSG.

He is viewed as the perfect midfield option for Slot, particularly because of his ability to cover a lot of ground.

Zaire-Emery himself, while content in Paris, would also be open to a move to Anfield and test himself in new waters.

It would be the perfect transfer and one that would definitely get the club's supporters excited. And now Hughes has been given even more incentives to try to get the transfer over the line.

CIES has recently conducted a study in conjunction with Wyscout to analyse the U20 midfielders with the best passing accuracy in the world.

Zaire-Emery came out in second place in the study overall and in first place among midfielders playing in Europe's top five leagues.

His 92.4% passing accuracy was only bettered by Nordsjaelland's Caleb Yirenki in world football, who has a 93.9% accuracy.

We know how much Slot's football relies on players being able to progress the ball and retain possession. Zaire-Emery is pretty much perfect for this system based on the data.

And these numbers just give an even bigger green light for Hughes to seriously spend whatever it takes to bring him to Anfield.
