Greuther Furth 4-4 Liverpool — Player Ratings

Liverpool’s pre-season continued with a 4-4 draw in a thoroughly entertaining fixture against Bundesliga second division side Greuther Furth on Monday – with goals from Luis Diaz, Darwin Nuñez, and Mohamed Salah.

After a 15-minute delay to kick-off due to some stormy weather conditions, Diaz opened the scoring for the Reds in the 22nd minute after skipping into the penalty area, before bending a gorgeous strike into the bottom right-hand corner.

Moments after the start of the second-half, Adrian sold youngster James McConnell short, who tapped the ball into an empty net under pressure to bring Furth level.

However in the 50th minute Salah threaded a wonderful through ball to Nuñez who’s first touch took him round the oncoming goalkeeper, eventually tapping home into an empty net.

The Uruguayan extended Liverpool’s lead soon after, once again from a Salah through ball, before nestling the ball past the Furth keeper.

In the 68th minute, Lukas Petkov pulled one back for the hosts after an offside call was ignored as he slotted home past a helpless Adrian.

Seven minutes later Furth found their equaliser thanks to a lovely counter and finish from ex-Bayern Munich youngster Armindo Sieb.

The 20-year-old then put the German side ahead in the 78th minute with a beautiful finish from the edge of the box into the bottom left-hand corner.

Late in the match, Salah found his first goal of the pre-season after a lovely cross from Nuñez found the Egyptian at the back post who had the easy job as tapping home to equalise.

Straight after the restart, Nuñez then had the chance to win the game late on. However, the Furth substitute goalkeeper pulled off a wonderful save from the striker’s close-range header.

Liverpool pushed for a late winner, however had to settle with a draw in their final Germany pre-season fixture before jetting off to Singapore.
