Liverpool forward reportedly missing from training ahead of Villarreal clash
Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino was not involved in training yesterday ahead of the club's Champions League semi-final first leg clash against Villarreal at Anfield, according to the Liverpool Echo, as cited by Anfield Watch on Twitter.
The Brazil international did not feature against Everton at Anfield last weekend due to a foot injury.
The fact that Firmino was not spotted at training yesterday ahead of tonight's match against Villarreal does suggest he is yet to recover from the aforementioned issue.
Firmino has picked up a number of injuries this season.
Anfield Watch Verdict
Firmino has had a decent season. The striker has scored 11 goals and registered four assists in 31 appearances.
Firmino has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.92 across the 2021-22 campaign.
Therefore, it is a shame that the Brazil international is unlikely to be available for the first leg clash against Villarreal.
But, Liverpool should be able to cope without Firmino. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp still has Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota at his disposal.
It should come as no shock that Liverpool have found the back of the net with ease across the 2021-22 campaign. They have scored 85 goals in 33 Premier League matches this season.
In saying that, we do wish Firmino a speedy recovery. We never want to see any Red sitting on the sidelines because of an injury.
On another note, we wish Liverpool all the best ahead of their semi-final tie against Villarreal.
It would be brilliant to see the Reds win their seventh European Cup this season. The Champions League is the biggest club tournament a team can win.
However, only time will tell if Liverpool are to conquer Europe once more.
