Liverpool Football Club has provided an injury update on Thiago Alcantara
Liverpool Football Club has confirmed, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, that midfielder Thiago Alcantara has suffered a hip injury.
However, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is not expecting the Spaniard to be sitting on the sidelines for a prolonged period of time.
Thiago has not played for Liverpool since mid-December.
Anfield Watch Verdict
Thiago is a fine footballer. There is a reason why the midfielder has played for the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Therefore, we are gutted that Thiago is currently not available for selection.
The Reds are quite depleted at the moment. Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita are all away on international duty (AFCON).
Therefore, it is important that Thiago gets back out on the pitch sooner rather than later.
However, the aforementioned update from the club does highlight that the Spain international will be back playing for Liverpool in no time.
On another note, the Reds will face Arsenal at Anfield on Thursday night. The first leg of the League Cup semi-final will kick-off at 07:45pm.
