Liverpool fixtures: Reds' next 5 fixtures after winter break

Here are the next five Liverpool fixtures after their winter break. The Reds are competing in four different competitions.

Finally, a break. Liverpool have had a particularly hectic winter period so far with fixtures in four different competitions. The Reds have managed to compete in the Premier League, UEFA Europa League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup - and are first or second favourites in all.

It means a break is welcome and Liverpool won't compete again until the 21st of January. Naturally, though, things will get hectic again as soon as things start back up.

Their next five games feature three of those four competitions, while they also can't be sure who will be available and who will be absent. Mohamed Salah is with Egypt at AFCON, after all, while Wataru Endo is at the Asian Cup with Japan. Injuries, too, add extra unknowns as several players are set to return.

So let's see what's to come in the next five Liverpool fixtures.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool - Premier League

Liverpool's next fixture will be a Premier League one as they resume their title fight. The Reds are top of the league by two points as things stand - and will almost certainly hold that position when they next play.

The Reds definitely won't have Salah or Endo for this one - their respective group stages won't have finished yet. Trent Alexander-Arnold will be out, too, with his absence expected to be three weeks long.

But Dominik Szoboszlai could be back. He suggested it's just a matter of waiting to see what's preferable - a quick return or a more cautious one. There's every chance that he's in the squad, though.

Sunday, 21st January - 16:00 GMT

Fulham vs Liverpool - Carabao Cup

This will be a big one, too. Liverpool head to Fulham with a one-goal lead, having won the first leg 2-1 at Anfield. Hold onto that lead and the Reds book a trip to Wembley and the Carabao Cup final.

Of course, they'll be massive favourites to do so. They're big favourites to win the entire tournament, in fact, with Chelsea 1-0 down to Championship side Middlesbrough in the other semi final.

This is another where Liverpool won't have Salah or Endo. However, it's also the final game where they definitely won't have either - the group stages will be over by the next Reds fixture.

Wednesday, 24th January - 20:00 GMT

Liverpool vs Norwich City or Bristol Rovers - FA Cup

An unusual one here as we can't be sure who Liverpool play. Norwich and Bristol Rovers will play a replay for the right to head to Anfield for an FA Cup Fourth Round tie.

Liverpool will likely play a much-rotated team for this one, given the absences and incredible number of games on the schedule. The Reds are huge faourites no matter who they play, of course.

No one should expect Salah or Endo back - in fact, that remains true for the rest of the five fixtures here. Egypt and Japan are right amongst the favourites to win their international tournaments and will likely make at least the quarter-finals.

Liverpool vs Chelsea - Premier League

And we're back to the Premier League - and the reverse fixture of Liverpool's season opener. The Reds vs the Blues is always a massive fixture, though Chelsea's poor form this season makes this one the hosts should win.

Saying that, Chelsea have won three on the bounce at the time of writing - perhaps they'll be a proper challenge here.

Liverpool fans know the drill, too. It's a title race featuring Manchester City, so naturally you need to win every single Premier League game to have a chance of winning the title.

Wednesday, 31st January - 20:15 GMT

Arsenal vs Liverpool - Premier League

The big one. This is one of Liverpool's two biggest games of the season, alongside the Anfield fixture vs Manchester City later in the campaign. It's certainly the Reds' biggest remaining test alongside that one.

Arsenal have fallen a little off the pace at the top but still see themselves in the title race. Liverpool will try to show them otherwise at the Emirates - but almost certainly won't have Endo or Salah.

Now, they didn't have those players in the FA Cup fixture there, either - and won that. Even if it's a massive test, Liverpool will head into it with confidence.
