Liverpool fixtures: How to watch the Reds on TV in January
Liverpool face a potentially pivotal month of football next January as they aim to start the new year with a bang.
The Reds will play a minimum of six matches next month across three different competitions, including some mighty Premier League clashes, a gargantuan FA Cup encounter and two Carabao Cup semi-finals.
Jurgen Klopp's side kick off January against Newcastle United on New Year's Day and also face the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.
Here are Liverpool's upcoming fixtures at the beginning of the new year and how to catch the Reds on TV.
LIVERPOOL VS NEWCASTLE - PREMIER LEAGUE
-
Date: Monday, 1 January 2024
-
Kick-off time: 20:00 (GMT)
-
Stadium: Anfield
-
TV: Sky Sports (United Kingdom)
Liverpool begin a challenging month of fixtures by welcoming Newcastle to Anfield on New Year's day. The Reds have already beaten the Magpies this term, Darwin Nunez's late brace securing a 2-1 victory for Klopp's ten-man team at St. James' Park back in August.
The Reds have an impressive record against the Magpies in recent times and have won their last five meetings with them. In fact, Liverpool are unbeaten against Newcastle since 2015.
With Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City all in action before Liverpool's next match, the Newcastle result could prove decisive in the title race.
ARSENAL VS LIVERPOOL - FA CUP
-
Date: Sunday, 7 January 2024
-
Kick-off time: 16:30 (GMT)
-
Stadium: Emirates Stadium
-
TV: BBC (United Kingdom)
After a 1-1 draw just before Christmas, Liverpool will face Arsenal again in early January, this time in the FA Cup third round.
A tricky tie for the Reds, Klopp and his team will travel to the Emirates looking to deliver a psychological blow to their Premier League title rivals.
However, Liverpool are without a win in three against the Gunners and may rotate heavily.
LIVERPOOL VS FULHAM - CARABAO CUP
-
Date: Wednesday, 10 January 2024
-
Kick-off time: 20:00 (GMT)
-
Stadium: Anfield
-
TV: Sky Sports (United Kingdom)
The first leg of Liverpool's Carabao Cup semi-final with Fulham will take place shortly after their trip to the Emirates, the Reds aiming to book their place at Wembley after a successful run in the competition.
Liverpool beat Fulham in a 4-3 thriller at Anfield earlier this season, but Klopp will want a more comfortable evening of football in January.
BOURNEMOUTH VS LIVERPOOL - PREMIER LEAGUE
-
Date: Sunday, 21 January 2024
-
Kick-off time: 16:30 (GMT)
-
Stadium: Vitality Stadium
-
TV: Sky Sports (United Kingdom)
After a significant break in action, providing Liverpool don't find themselves playing Arsenal in an FA Cup third round replay, the Reds will travel to in-form Bournemouth as January draws to a close.
Liverpool have already beaten the Cherries twice this season - 3-1 at Anfield and 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium - but this will likely prove a tougher test should the south coast side keep up their current form.
FULHAM VS LIVERPOOL - CARABAO CUP
-
Date: Wednesday, 24 January 2024
-
Kick-off time: 20:00 (GMT)
-
Stadium: Craven Cottage
-
TV: Sky Sports (United Kingdom)
Liverpool will be hopeful of taking a lead to Craven Cottage in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, but won't have the advantage of Anfield on this occasion.
The Reds have drawn their last two trips to Fulham, although they have only lost one in 11 clashes with the Cottagers. It could be a huge game.
LIVERPOOL VS CHELSEA - PREMIER LEAGUE
-
Date: Wednesday, 31 January 2024
-
Kick-off time: 20:15 (GMT)
-
Stadium: Anfield
-
TV: TNT Sports (United Kingdom)
In a repeat of the opening day of the Premier League season, Liverpool will face Chelsea to close out the month. The Reds only managed a 1-1 draw with the Blues back in August and could have already set up a Carabao Cup final with Mauricio Pochettino's side by the time the two teams meet in late January.
The Reds won't be too fearful of a Chelsea side that have woefully underperformed this season, but the west London outfit still have plenty of quality in their ranks.
If Liverpool make it past Arsenal in the FA Cup, they will play in the fourth round of the competition on 27 January in between fixtures with Fulham and Chelsea.
